LOWA Test Centre Langweiler

The monastery hotel Marienhöh teams with the LOWA’s Langweiler Test Centre to create a paradise for hiking lovers. The centre has a selection of about 100 different pairs of LOWA shoes, ranging from models for beginners to mountaineering boots, that customers can put through their paces free of charge.

The Hunsrück National Park is right outside the front door, an area that has more than 10,000 hectares of space and is the ideal testing ground for demanding one-day tours.

The boots in LOWA’s most northerly test centre are offered to both guests of the hotel and other interested individuals. The tours start right at the monastery hotel, where circular tours such as the “Traumschleife Köhlerpfad” begin.

The Langweiler Test Centre is open year around and has the same hours as the Hotel Marienhöh.

You are welcome to inquire which models are available by calling the listed telephone number. Some test centres also offer children’s models – the Test Centre will be happy to provide you with information about them before your visit!

The hike, which begins in the former charcoal burner village of Langweiler, leads along natural trails through impressive landscapes, earthy forest and meadow paths around the Steinbach dam.

You will start the hike in Langweiler, passing by the plaque of Wüstung Croppenhof near Sensweiler and then heading to Katzenloch. The trail will then lead you into the forest. When you eventually emerge from the woods, you will gain a direct view of the Steinbachtalsperre located south of Kempfeld and the surrounding forests. From there, the trail will take you past Bruchweiler, a village that can be reached by taking a separate, 2-kilometre-long path. You will then head back to Langweiler, your original starting point.
